Beyond Me Summer Mission Trip

After much prayer and discernment, it has been decided that Foundation Youth will not be going to Claremore Oklahoma this year, but will instead be working in Lancaster and other areas closer to home that were affected by the recent tornados.

Here is what that week will look like:

*We will stay at FUMC Waxahachie (everybody will sleep at the church)

*We will shower at members homes

The trip will start at 5:30pm on June 10th and end with worship on June15th at 7pm.

*It will still be the BEST MISSION TRIP EVER!

The decision was not an easy one to make, but after really looking at the theme of the trip (Beyond Me) and the scripture for the week (Philippians2:1-4), it was clear that staying here and helping those who have been affected by the recent tornados would be the best use of our time and ourresources. Plus, this will allow our whole church to get involved in ourmission experience this year. I am going to open registration back up to allow more people to sign up! Please pass this information on to anybody who may be interested in being a part of this amazing trip.

WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF AT LEAST 4 WORK TEAM ADULTS
(and other opportunities below)
I am really really looking forward to this summer's mission trip and the opportunity to help our community come together as a church community. I pray that you are excited as well. God has an amazing trip planned for us and I have no doubt that it will be a memorable experience for us all.

Beyond Me Volunteer Opportunities

Work Team Adult: THIS POSITION IS MOST NEEDED. Adults 21 are encouraged to sign up for this amazing opportunity. Work team adults primary responsibility is to make sure their work team is safe and to encourage the youth. There are two work team adults assigned to each work team. Work Team Adults need to experience the full week with the youth in its entirety. It is probably one of the most rewarding experiences you can be a part of.

Construction Team Assistant: If you have a heart and knowledge of construction we would love your assistance. The Construction Team Assistant would be available to our Construction Coordinators to help the work teams with their projects and anything else the Construction Coordinators may need. You can volunteer all week or one or two days during that week.

Provide a meal: In order to cut costs we are asking families and small groups to help provide breakfast or dinner for the work teams. There is a suggested menu to make sure we don’t have any repeat meals. This would be a great way for you and your family or small group to be in fellowship with the work teams on the mission trip.

Shower house: We are looking for 6 homes to be opened up for the work teams to take a shower. Those hosting a shower house would be asked to have their home open from 4pm – 6pm and provide at least two showers. We would also appreciate it if the hosts also washed the work teams towels each night so they have clean towels each day after working out in the hot sun. Extra bonus points if you have a pool the work team can swim in and if you want to provide refreshments. You have no idea what a blessing it is to shower in homes instead of public showers at schools or public pools where privacy and hot water is not always guaranteed.

Agape team: We are looking to establish a team whose whole job is to support and encourage the participants of the mission trip. This can be done with hanging up signs in the church building, writing notes of encouragement, bringing cool snacks to the worksites, and anything else creative you can come up with. This is a great way to get children involved. You can pick one day to be an encourager…or help out all week.
