Home Meet Our Staff Pastor Jerry Galloway

Pastor Jerry Galloway

Jerry's professional career took many twists and turns throughout his young adult life. He worked as a computer operator; in radio sales and promotion, delivered eggs, in an employment agency, drilled holes in bowling balls, and ended his "wilderness wanderings" in an upper-level management position with a nationwide courier service at Love Field in Dallas. He answered a "renewed" or "revisited' call to ministry at the age of 37. Jerry enrolled in Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and in 1992 graduated with a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) degree.

Rev. Galloway began serving churches in 1988. He was appointed a Part-time Local Pastor at the 1st UMC in Colleyville. He then moved to Central UMC in Waco where he served as Associate Pastor for three years while commuting to SMU. Upon graduation he assumed his first full time appointment at the Early/Zephyr Charge in the Brownwood District. Six years later he was appointed as Pastor to the Alliance UMC, a new church start in north Fort Worth. Rev. Galloway was appointed to the 1st UMC of Waxahachie in June of 2005.

Rev. Galloway is married to Betty (Phillips) and they have two grown children: John, who is a Ft. Worth policeman, married to Dawn and lives in Alvord, Texas; and Christi, who is a staff assistant at Solaris Hospice, is married to Cecil Bentley and lives in Sunset, Texas.  Betty and Jerry are blessed with seven extra-special grandchildren: Coby, Brittani, Maggie, Grace, Tucker, Lainey, and John Wesley Jr.
