Spend More – Make More Finally, A Fundraiser That Makes Cents - During the service on Pentecost Sunday, Nancy Estes spoke of a church-wide fundraiser sponsored by the ABC Class. A fundraiser that makes money by doing what we do naturally. By doing something as mundane as spending money on a regular basis, we can actually contribute to the church financially. Sounds strange, or maybe even too good be true?? But actually it really works.
The fundraiser is scrip. What is scrip? Scrip is a substitute for money in the form of negotiable certificates or cards that can be used like cash to purchase products or services from merchants who have issued them. (Such as HEB or Walmart.) Scrip can be used to purchase anything from groceries, fuel, clothing, toys, and cosmetics to entertainment, electronics, scrip is also a great gift idea for anyone and any occasion. Nevertheless, what makes scrip a valuable and effective fundraising tool for our organization is that we can use it to buy our favorite products and services, with a percentage of what we spend going directly to the church.
