Sunday, October 16, 2011 was a day the congregation of First United Methodist
had a chance to “be the church” by worshiping outside church walls.
Instead of having regular services, teams ventured into the community
to worship and serve.
What a wonderful experience we had as God's presence was manifested.
Teams brought music and a message to the homebound in their homes
and centers. “We want to bring worship to those, right where they
are—to those unable to come to us.” Some teams served the community
by painting or planting flowers at Waxahachie houses and centers,
while others built wheel chair ramps for the disabled in the community.
Additional teams ventured on a “prayer walk”—taking time out to walk
around town praying for and giving cards and cookies to public
service officers and businesses. This experience not only heartened
our community, but heartened us as a church as we concentrated on
Jesus' call and commission to go out into the world.
God is seeking worshipers who will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth.
John 4:21-24
You don’t need a church building to “worship”.

"Very moving to see faces light up with excitement and joy."

"Many people were lifted even on a somewhat warm morning.
In looking to the future, I think we should easily see the number grow for the next event. Hopes in the years to come will be to expand this to other churches in the area.
Can you imagine, rather than 15,000 people pasted to pews, 15,000 out
and about in the community on a Sunday actively making a difference
in the community?"
